There is no shortage of “holiday” parties at work. Last week was the official
party for our campus. You have to purchase a ticket, and now that I think about it, it sounds a lot like other Office parties I’ve seen recently. I was informed several weeks ahead of time that our team had a tradition of going to our own off-site unofficial party. Fortunately, it always occurs at the exact same time as the official party. I must say, I never realized how tiring 3 hours of playing pool and eating can be. A good time was had by all.

pre-holiday commutes

This weekend is a holiday weekend. That means today was rush hour
literally all day long. It happens the day prior to every holiday. Add a bit of rain for good measure, and you’re guaranteed a wretched commute home, (ir)regardless of how early you leave work.
Today’s trip home: 1 hour and 50 minutes … for 35 miles. Not at all that bad. (A little Hot Tracks lingo there. Any MI people still watch the show?)
So who are all these people, and shouldn’t they be on vacation some where?

hard at work: part 3
Filed Under work | Leave a Comment
I arrived at work this week to a cube full of goodies … well, at least full of my installed and configured computers. And there was much rejoicing from a certain co-worker who daily chose to lend me some of his hardware in order for me to be productive.
Initial estimates from that same co-worker were that I’d get fully situated by the end of November. That’s only a week shy of what actually transpired. At first I was impressed with his accuracy. But then I started to wonder if it was some sort of self-fulfilling prophecy. Hmmm, maybe my co-workers had more to do with the process than they let on. ![]()
